Most Off Grid installations are for domestic customers who need power for their day to day requirements, lights, appliances, etc, but are unable to have access to mains grid electricity, either by choice, or simply that getting connected by the local utility is going to cost far too much to make it a sensible option. We have one customer who was quoted £38,000 to have overhead power cables installed across a few fields. At these sort of costs, going Off Grid is a very sensible option. Once in place, the power is free!
Costs vary depending on the amount of power required in the installation. A micro system comprising a small solar panel, battery storage and a 12v outlet will be suitable for a shed or occasional caravan use, but will not service the needs of a live-in caravan or dwelling.
